Cannabis News: Will Colorado Let Medical Cannabis Patients Consume At Their Workplace?

Colorado, one of the first states to legalize adult-use cannabis, aims to no longer bar employees from being laid off or fired due to their use of cannabis on their own time or at work.

Two new proposals for the Highest State could also allow medical cannabis users to consume at their place of employment. Those operating heavy machinery would be exempt; however, this consideration for cannabis users is some of the most progressive legislation the United States has seen yet.

Says Democrat and co-prime sponsor Rep. Edie Hooton, “the whole idea is to signal to the business community and to employers that because we have legalized cannabis, we should be following the same laws and rules that apply to alcohol and prescription drugs.”

Since 2012, the state has acted as a model for politicians in other states who have attempted to pass cannabis legislation.

Should cannabis consumers, both medical and recreational, be allowed to consume cannabis without worrying about their employment? If prescription pills and alcohol can be taken while at work, why not cannabis? Sound off below!
