Cannabis News: Chuck Schumer And Cannabis Reform Advocates Held A Meeting To Discuss New Legislation

​​Last week, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and cannabis reform advocates held a meeting to discuss the state of the forthcoming Cannabis Administration & Opportunity Act legislation in the works.

Schumer only provided vague details surrounding the anticipated release date but said the American people could expect it, quote “soon.”

The Zoom meeting, which lasted a little under an hour, also covered cannabis banking, cannabis-related immigration difficulties, and the execution of New York’s adult-use cannabis program.

Schumer took to social media, describing the work as quote “exciting meeting on social equity in federal marijuana reform” He continued, “We’re working to end the prohibition & ensure equity for communities impacted by the War on Drugs—[especially] communities of color.”

Drug Policy Alliance (DPA), Cannabis Regulators of Color Coalition (CRCC), Immigrant Defense Project, Women Grow, VOCAL-NY, and Rochester NORML were among those who attended.
