The DEA has announced they will be rescheduling a drug derived from cocaine: while cannabis and psilocybin remain schedule 1, with no plans to change that any time soon.
The DEA said they were petitioned for the change and removal from the schedule, which cannabis advocates have been doing for years.
The Department of Human and Health Services has gone on the record, stating this drug is “…more potent than cocaine in behavioral assessments”.
The campaign to reschedule this stimulant has been formally underway since June 2018, and it appears to have succeeded with the public comment period ending December 6.
Upon rescheduling and removal from the schedule, all criminal and civil penalties previously associated with the compound will be eliminated.
