Today in cannabis news, The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has officially requested a massive increase in research-grade cannabis and psychedelics for 2022.
In a notice that was published yesterday, The DEA is seeking to double the amount of cannabis, psilocybin, and psilocin, quadruple the amount of mescaline, and quintuple the amount of DMT used for research purposes.
These request changes mark an over 1000% difference in specifically requested extract amounts and signify a considerable shift in Schedule 1 controlled substances handling.
Currently, the DEA is working to process & approve applications for legal manufacturers to grow cannabis for research purposes. The University of Mississippi has been the only farm in the US allowed to provide cannabis for the government since 1961.
