Cannabis Legalization

Cannabis News: Cannabis and Psilocybin on 2022 Ballots

Americans across the country can expect to see marijuana and psychedelic initiatives on their 2022 ballots. So far, within the United States there have been four new cannabis legalization laws introduced in 2021 and it is expected that advocates across the country are currently in the beginning stages of drafting proposals, collecting signatures and working to educate and build support around medical and recreational cannabis and psychedelic legalization .

California is seen to possibly be the first state in the nation to legalize psilocybin mushrooms for any use, as a petition has been filed for the 2022 ballot. The measure is called the California psilocybin initiative which would legalize personal, medical, therapeutic, religious, spiritual and dietary uses for psilocybin mushrooms for adults 21 years and older. If passed, the initiative would allow cultivation, retail sale, social sharing and on-site consumption for psychedelics.

Idaho state officials have officially allowed activists to begin collecting signatures for the initiative to legalize marijuana possession. If passed the initiative would allow for the possession of up to 3 ounces of marijuana to be lawful on private property for adults 21 years and older however, home cultivation would be prohibited and there would be no legal or a licensed system of cannabis retailers within the state.

As we get closer and closer to the 2022 midterm elections more initiatives and policy reforms can be expected to be seen but it is very clear that these topics will have a significant stance on a large number of ballots.
