New York Adult Use Cannabis is legal. It might take a year or two for Dispensaries to be able to sell recreationally to the general pubic, but the fact that you can own and use this plant without legal repercussions is monumental.
New York is the 16th state to make Cannabis legal, despite it still being illegal on a Federal Level and classified as a schedule 1 narcotic (which is beyond absurd).
The law legalizes possession of up to 3 ounces of marijuana for adults 21.
Currently, at the time of this posting (5/19/2021), Cannabis is legal for adult recreational use in 17 states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Vermont, Virginia, Washington.
It’s also legal in Washington DC, as well as the American Territories of Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands.
Medically, cannabis is legal in 36 of the 50 states.
How does it make any sense that 36 of the 50 states recognize that this plant is a medicine, and yet the Federal Government still classifies it as a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance on par with Heroin, or Meth?
