In US news and current events today, veteran Erik Asher was homeless after his time in the Army. Now he teaches medical cannabis patients how to press rosin so they can ‘turn green into gold.’
Erik Asher is a U.S. Army veteran from Penn Hills, PA. When Asher got out of the Army after Operation Desert Storm in 1991, he was lost and despondent.
Asher looked to the VA for help, but he says all the VA did was put him on a litany of addictive medications that turned him into a ‘zombie.’
Asher started getting deeper into cannabis culture and learning more about the plant that was helping him. In his time studying, he came across YouTube videos of cannabis consumers pressing their own rosin from cannabis flowers.
Asher was fascinated and bought a rosin press. A rosin press is a tool used by some cannabis extractors to ‘squeeze’ the cannabinoids, terpenes, and other essential oils out of the plant, essentially turning the bud into oil. Now, Asher travels around PA teaching patients how to press rosin.
Asher wants to eventually start a business called Asher’s Finest Rosin whenever cannabis is legalized for recreational use in PA. Asher wants to use the future proceeds from that business to fight veteran homelessness.
