Cannabis News: UCLA Study Compared In-Hospital Mortality Outcomes And Cannabis Use

According to research published in the journal The American Surgeon, trauma patients who test positive for cannabis upon arrival to the hospital had a lower chance of death than control groups.

In a cohort of over 141,000 trauma victims, researchers from the University of California, Los Angeles, compared in-hospital mortality outcomes. Patients with a history of cannabis use (as evidenced by a positive drug screen upon admission) were less likely to die while hospitalized, according to the researchers, than patients with identical injuries but no indication of recent cannabis exposure.

In previous observational studies, cannabis usage has been linked to a lower risk of in-hospital mortality in patients with congestive heart failure, cancer, COPD, pancreatitis, HIV, burn-related injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and various other forms of severe trauma.

Cannabis continues to demonstrate its value medically; would you be open to consuming cannabis instead of prescription pharmaceutical pills when possible?
