Cannabis News: Mexico’s Senate President Blames The U.S. For Failed Cannabis Policy

The Senate president of Mexico has claimed that the United States’ persuasion is at fault for the nation’s unsuccessful cannabis prohibition statutes. During an interview this week, Senate President Olga Sánchez Cordero stated that Mexico is “falling behind” on cannabis policy reforms in the years after prohibition was enacted.

As per a translated quote, she mentioned the “prohibitionist culture” that emerged in the 1960s and asserted that it originated “from the United States.”

In different comments last month, Sánchez Cordero stressed the importance of legislative change, adding that “there is no longer room for the prohibitionist policy.”
