Cannabis News: Mississippi Governor Pauses Medical Cannabis Program

Mississippi’s operational medical cannabis sector is on pause as Gov. Tate Reeves (R) attempts to restrict the quantity of cannabis available for purchase by patients. A year back, state voters passed medical cannabis legislation, however the state Supreme Court overturned it.

The state legislature then agreed to design and pass a bill establishing a medical cannabis framework. Gov. Reeves, as per WAPT Jackson, has stated that he will not permit that to occur before he has reached an agreement with legislators.

Patients would be confined to 4 ounces of medical cannabis monthly under a drafted proposal, an ounce less than the limit in the statute passed by voters. Reeves also seeks to limit who can prescribe medical cannabis, according to reports. As per WAPT, Reeves also seeks to impose a cap on the THC concentration of medical cannabis items.
