A new law in Las Vegas, Nevada has taken effect that authorizes public cannabis consumption lounges. Prior to the law’s enactment, legalized cannabis could only be consumed in one’s private residence, meaning the nearly 40 million visitors who travel to Las Vegas had no location to lawfully consume cannabis goods from retailers.
The legislation also aims to correct some of the damages caused by the failed war on drugs by prioritizing persons who have been penalized for breaching cannabis statutes that have been revoked, described in the law as “Social Equity Applicants”.
The Social Equity Applicants would be given preference for a portion of cannabis consumption lounge permits, as well as the option of paying reduced renewing or applying costs.
