The Kenyan government borrowed heavily to fund the Standard Gauge Railway from Mombasa to Nairobi and other flagship projects like the Port of Lamu etc. This has come to be a burden to the country as the amount required to service the external debts surpass the recurrent expenditure. This means Kenya cannot meet its debt repayment obligations and continue to run as a going concern. This brings the threat of the Chinese government repossessing the port of Mombasa which is alleged to have been used as collateral for the huge loans. In the backdrop of this information we recommend the legalization of marijuana in Kenya to widen the tax base and raise money to pay our obligations. The marijuana economy is getting mainstream each and cannabis stocks are traded in the stock exchanges with companies capitalized to billions of dollars. We advise that the Kenyan Government discard the moral economy and raise money through this cannabis ventures like other advanced nations are doing. Canada for example did it in 2018 and The world health organization recommended that marijuana be removed from the list of restrictive substances. We demand that Kenya stopped the cancel culture like what Ezekiel Mutua is propagating and let the economy thrive.
