In England, the anonymous masked cannabis activist Outlaw is at it again. His efforts to give out free marijuana to Manchester residents has put the spotlight on him before. This time, he’s driving around in a van, distributing free toilet paper, hand sanitizer, bottled water, and cannabis while the city is on lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic. After posting about his enthusiasm to help those in need, he said he received over 6,000 delivery requests from Instagram followers. In response, he’s taking out his Lockdown Essentials Van, blaring the song “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” as he hands out the legal and illicit products, while abiding by social distancing guidelines. According to the activist, he’s given away more than 300 packages of toilet paper, hundreds of bottles of sanitizer, and four ounces of marijuana. While the U.K. legalized medical cannabis in November of 2018, it’s still widely unavailable for most patients. Cannabis advocates are hoping to change that. With a growing illicit market, British industry experts predict recreational cannabis legalization may be on the horizon within the next 5 years.
