In US news and current events today, cannabis businesses can’t get federal relief during COVID-19 — even under the $2T+ stimulus plan that was recently passed. The lack of relief for weed businesses is due to the federal Schedule 1 status of cannabis under the U.S. Controlled Substances Act. Schedule 1 places cannabis in the same schedule as heroin and says it has no known medical benefit and a high risk of abuse.
