The usually tourist-packed squares of Amsterdam were largely empty after the Dutch government ordered bars, brothels and weed-selling coffee shops to close.
The announcement led to panic buying of marijuana at coffee shops.
Long queues were seen forming outside the shops before they were forced to shut their doors until April 6.
